The Thrills & Chills: Basics

The Thrills & Chills gang has the greatest number of sub-groups, and though there is some talk among them (and the spies are notorious for lurking among all the groups, even outside of their genre), the gang's sub-groups tend to keep to themselves. The Thrills & Chills' general attitude toward non-print material is ambivalence, but its different groups have various views on them. The sub-groups also get along with other genres to different degrees.

The Gang

Cloaks: a sub-group for historical thrillers, which are typically set before the 1970s, though they may cross into the present to show repercussions.

Gavels: a sub-group for thrillers with a legal focus.

Heads: a sub-group dedicated to political novels. Their name comes from "head of state".

Lurkers: a sub-group comprised of suspense thrillers.

Nightmares: a sub-group focused on psychological thrillers.

Scythes: a sub-group for supernatural thrillers.

Shadows: a sub-group dedicated to thrillers focused on espionage.

Snipers: a sub-group for military thrillers.

Syringes: a sub-group centered around medical thrillers.

Toxins: a sub-group for environmental thrillers.

Wires: a sub-group dedicated to techno thrillers.

Internal Relations

Because the sub-groups tend to keep to themselves, it can be hard for them to bind together to combat the efforts of the other gangs. Usually a few of the subgroups will work together - for example, the spies with the military or politicians - but sometimes the other sub-groups get too involved. There can be too much red tape with the Thrills and Chills - more than with the Detectives, even - as the military, doctors, lawyers, spies, politicians, and environmentalists all have their own agendas. Throw in the supernatural elements, and things get even more complicated. Still, if they can work together, the Thrills & Chills are a force to be reckoned with.

External Relations

The Thrills & Chills don't associate with the other genres much, in part because they have too much conflict and red tape within their own gang. However, each sub-group has a gang they are closest to, which are usually the Terrors, Detectives, or Anecdotes. Some even associate with non-fiction, which tends to receive a roll of the eyes from those who do not.

Of all the genres, they dislike the comics the most, though as a whole they make few active efforts against them.

The Thrills & Chills are concerned with laws, intelligence, health, and the environment within and outside of their novels, and these concerns manifest themselves in various ways, most often through laying out rules and restrictions upon other gangs, who do not receive them kindly.
