Biography

Stanton is an invitus - one who had been kidnapped and made into a Follower, a servant of an ancient evil known as the Atrox. His father had been a late-13th-century Western European prince who hunted the Atrox. In order to dissuade the prince from this task, however, six-year-old Stanton was kidnapped from his home and given in service to the very evil his father sought to destroy. As Stanton's choice wasn't voluntary, he, unlike other Followers, retained his memories of being a regular human. As time went on, he would learn that love and death were both unattainable for him.

Over eight hundred years Stanton has worked for the Atrox. He is immortal and possesses the ability to read and manipulate people's minds, erase others' memories, and trap people in his own recollections. Like other Followers, he can also travel through shadows. Because he holds rank and experience, Stanton is extremely skilled and cunning and, for a long while, at least, flirtatious. He is a formidable Follower, an asset to the Atrox and it's mission to unleash a barrage of malevolent ills, such as disease, upon the world. In order to do this, however, it must rid the world of the Daughters of the Moon - girls with unique powers whose destiny it is to destroy the Atrox. Enter Stanton and the other Followers.

By the start of the series, Stanton lives in Los Angeles, California. When the next generation of Daughters of the Moon arises, Stanton meets first Vanessa, who has the ability to become invisible. When, by his own doing, she ends up in his memory (the one of his kidnapping), Vanessa, very much to Stanton's surprise, attempts to free him. After this display of kindness, Stanton can't hurt her, and he does what he can to make sure she, and sometimes her friends, are safe.

Serena becomes the other important Daughter to Stanton. Their love blossoms in secret at first. Over time, Stanton allows a few of the Followers he most trusts (Ha! A mistake.) to see him with Serena, and the other three Daughters - Vanessa, Catty, and Jimena - also discover their relationship.

Eventually, Stanton tells Serena they had to stop seeing each other. He explains that their love is forbidden, and Regulators - those so loyal to the Atrox that their close contact with the evil had corrupted their very bodies - would destroy them if they found out. What he doesn't tell her is that his desire to give into his dark side is continually grow stronger, especially as the new moon approaches - the time when a Follower's powers and loyalty to the Atrox were strongest. Stanton has always been the true danger to Serena, he realizes, not Regulators. So he lets her go. Of course, still deeply in love with her, Stanton continues to watch over her from the shadows.

Then, one day, for the first time since the 1200s, Stanton becomes free of the Atrox. Unfortunately, Serena's life ends up in peril, and, in order to save her, Stanton offers himself back up to the Atrox. In the process, he traps another Follower, Lambert, a knight who guarded Stanton as a child, in his memory. Stanton is given the title Prince of the Night, essentially the highest rank aside from the Atrox itself. His powers as a Follower become amplified and unmatched. Additionally, his spirit would continue to exist even if his body was destroyed.

Stanton and Serena's relationship continues to ebb in and out throughout the series. Ultimately, he ends up ruling Nefandus, the Atrox's realm, with the Goddess of the Dark by his side.

Relationships

Friends

He's on friendlier terms with Vanessa than any of the other Daughters except Serena, but he'll look out for the rest of them as well, when he can.

Family

All deceased.

Romance

He's taken by Serena Killingsworth and would have it no other way.

Enemies

Numerous ones, no doubt.

Other

Acquaintances, sorta-friends, absolute enemies - everything's open!

Searching for...

The other Daughters of the Moon characters! Primarily, I'm seeking the girls themselves - Vanessa, Catty, Serena, Jimena, Maggie, and Tianna (here). Of course, any Followers are always welcome, too!

Audition

Ah, his old self. How thankful he was not to be Book 5 Stanton. Though it was the only title in the thirteen-volume series where a Follower featured as the main role, Book 13 Stanton didn't envy his other self. All the sneaking around to see Serena, the freedom and returning - over and over again for The Sacrifice Stanton. The Final Eclipse Stanton wouldn't return to that painful chapter in his life. Not unless he absolutely had to. No, Series Ending Stanton liked his place now. He knew the entire story, and it pleased him immensely.

Oh! Looks like a patron was about to browse their section. A contented smirk graced his handsome features as he shadowed himself back up to his bookshelf. He recognized the girl walking over. She'd already checked out most of their series. If his memory served, she should only have Books 10 through 13 left. Well, might as well enter the book. She wasn't on his yet, but she might peruse, and he couldn't be missing for that. Materializing, Stanton stepped into The Final Eclipse and went in search of his Goddess.

Dorian & Stanton

I'm definitely thinking that Stanton and Dorian should get together. Raise a little hell... Just keep him away from Serena and he should be good. Depending on how attractive she is though... that friendship could vanish quickly. Dorian's a huge flirt.

There is no coincidences or happenstance only the inevitable

Yuuko and Stanton

I can see these two either getting along or not. Yuuko is mostly an immortal sorceress that grants wishes. Yuuko is mostly a person who knows its inevitable so its possibly inevitable that these two have meet each other at one point. Yuuko would like to know about Stanton and ask him questions, he can do the same asking her questions and get to know her.

Sebastian & Stanton

I can see Sebastian being somewhat intrigued by Stanton. However, things might get weird if Stanton asks too many questions. As Sebastian is a butler to someone who is practically in charge of the supernatural community in London, he'd be on the look for anyone or anything that would put his master in danger.

The only way Sebastian would be a bother to Stanton or Serena unless they did something first. I think he'd be somewhat reluctant to answer Stanton's questions, though. Even though it's just curiosity, Stanton would probably have to prove he is worthy of such knowledge as Sebastian doesn't just share it with any random stranger.

That'd make a rather funny thread. Instead of Curious George, we'd have Curious Stanton. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif The only problem would be Sebastian getting annoyed and end up "demoning" or something.

"Demoning" is one of Grell's weird words. It refers to whenever Sebastian get seriously ticked off, his shadow goes all weird and cloudy. It's usually a sign that someone is going to end up injured or dead. That's the same with Sebastian, he's immortal and can regenerate, with more serious wounds taking a longer time to heal and the Death Scythes in his world can be fatal.

Yay, a Sebby and Stanton thread. I think it'd work, either that or Sebastian is ordered to go elsewhere.

Javert doesn't do very well with small talk, though he does try to be polite, but he would probably want to talk/question Stanton if he knew he was a fantom. And he is quite judgmental toward people who don't follow all the rules, so a meeting between them would definitely make for an interesting thread.

I think the masquerade is a good chance for Javert to interact with other characters and disregard their affiliations. He might be a little awkward, but since the party is a melting pot of sorts, he would probably allow himself to open up and have a decent chat with someone if anyone caught his interest. Which would be a fun aspect of his character to explore. I'll be getting him up in the masquerade thread when I find some extra time later today. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/happy.gif

Ooooh, I wouldn't mind a thread with these two. It'll be interesting to see how Stanton discovers Sebastian's identity as he's pretty elusive.

Poor overworked Stanton. Hmmm, possibly, although he hasn't exactly been the focus of Sebastian's thoughts. I have a feeling that what memories he does have will be a bit fuzzy and will be of one of the other Stantons. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Another thread sounds good Javert would probably treat Stanton a bit more coldly if he revealed that he was a Fantom at the party, but he wouldn't say anything blatantly offensive. At any another time he would be less forgiving. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif
